In the corporate fashion world, big brands adhere to strict seasonal development calendars. This means that any one style is conceptualized, developed, sampled, costed and eventually ordered over the course of many, many months.
Teams of merchandisers, sales managers and store buyers plan out exactly when styles will hit the store selling floor or website. How long each style will be at full price, then on sale, get a second markdown, and finally go on clearance is all carefully mapped out.
That’s how the big brands do it.
They know exactly how to position their product to create sales and revenue!
Big brands can move through product this way because they have a giant marketing and sales engine in place to create demand, create sales and create space for new inventory.
